Rabbit Placemat and Coaster

A gift for you! It's time to free this cute rabbit, placemat and coaster, one of the first patterns I made, perfect for Easter and to decorate your table!

You need two fabrics of different colors. Open and print the PDF pattern.

When you print the pattern, to ensure it’s printed in the correct scale, test the square, it should be 1" x 1" (2,5 x 2,5 cm). The three shapes required to make the rabbit placemat are spread over multiple sheets. Join the prints following the instructions.

COASTER

Trace one coaster pattern on the wrong side of each fabric. Cut out the pieces with a 1/4" (6 mm) seam allowance, as shown by the dotted line in the pattern.

Overlap and pin the two pieces right sides together. Sew all round the coaster at 6 mm from the raw edge. Leave open the section AB.

Cut the seam allowances as shown in figure. Turn the coaster right side out through the section AB. Help yourself with a little stick or a knitting needle. Push the ears out first.

Push out all the edge of the coaster and stop it in the right position with a basting. Fold inwards the seam allowance AB and sew the opening by hand.
Topstitch the rabbit coaster near the edge. Use an upper and a bottom thread spool with the same fabric colors. Hide the excess threads inside the bunny, remove the basting and iron it (you can also iron an folded ear).

PLACEMAT

Trace on the wrong side of a fabric the pieces indicated like center and back placemat. On the wrong side of the other fabric the body piece. Cut out all the pieces with a 1/4" (6 mm) seam allowance, as shown by the dotted line in the pattern.

Cut a carboard with the shape of the inner curve of the placemat (red line in the pattern).

Overlap the carboard shape on the wrong side of the body. With an iron fold the edge interested over the paper, as shown in the photo.
Overlap the body on the center placemat along the red curve, both pieces are right side up. Pin and baste them together. Topstitch close the folded margin with a thread of the same color of the fabric.

Overlap the two sides of the placemat, right sides together. Pin them and sew all round the perimeter at 1/4" (6 mm) from the raw edge. Leave open the section AB.

Cut the seam allowance as shown in the figures. Turn the placemat right side out helping you with a little stick or a knitting needle. Baste the placemat all round. Push inside the seam allowances of the section AB and hand sew the opening.

Topstitch the rabbit placemat near the edge. Use an upper and a bottom thread spool with the same fabric colors. Hide the excess threads inside the rabbit body, remove the basting and iron it.

Done!

The Teepee, indian tent for children, made by me or... by you!

Hey! How are you?
I'm here again to show you the last big, big, big project! My Teepee!

Ideal for children, for four-legged friends and adults. Parents can play and discover with their children an exceptional people, the native north Americans of the Great Plains, in which the kids were pampered, spoiled, protected and free.
Through the game they learned the arts, the technique, the traditions, the collective culture. Even today, with this tent, the game can be fun and learning at the same time.

What is the particularity of this project?

First of all its design, simple, clean and respectful of the original teepees.
The structure is composed of 6 bamboo canes tied together. The bamboo is light, durable and beautiful to look at, recalls the irregularity of the original rods. A hexagonal support placed between the canes ensures stability to the structure and keeps the cover always well taut. The teepee stability is essential for safe play and securety!
The tent cover is made from a single piece of fabric sewn by hand and closed on the front by wooden pins. A door is rolled over the passage that can be opened at the base to facilitate the entry of the little ones or simply to widen the opening.

The second peculiarity is that I can make this tent to order or leave you part or all the fun: I studied a tutorial in detail to accompany you in the creation of a beautiful Teepee for your children's bedroom, to play Indians in the garden, on the beach, or wherever you want! A step by step tutorial with numerous clear and detailed pictures to sew the tent and make the structure or while you sew the tent I can make the structure for you. What do you think?

Last important feature is that you can choose between three different sizes (Small, Medium and Large) and between three different materials for the cover (if you choose the tent made by me):

• unbleached cotton, light and cheap,
• taupe-colored linen, a medium thickness and fresh fabric,
• unbleached, heavy and resistant canvas.

Well many were unveiled, such as participation at major events and the small publication on burda style Italy... but the greatest, the most tiring and, above all, the most exciting is "late" revealed: I MADE A BOOK!! I admit it was a huge effort to elaborate all the material for this gorgeus publication: studying new projects, write the instructions in english (!!!! MY ENEMY NUMBER 1 ), do the photos, edithing them, draw the illustrations... revisions and corrections with the great, wonderful and patient team of Meteoor Books, but we made it! Yeah! 

Now it's up to you to savor every page, enjoy every project, every single seam and to bring to your home a little piece of me and of My Handmade World!

Com'è cominciato il tuo mese di maggio? Il mio in modo elettrizzante! Sarà che a maggio ci sono nata, sarà che in questo mese splende (quasi sempre) il sole, sarà per i fiori, i colori... ma il maggio del 2017 è ancora più ricco e sai perché?

Ebbene molte sono state svelate, come la partecipazione a grandi eventi e la piccola pubblicazione su Burda Style... ma la più grande, la più faticosa e soprattutto la più esaltante è "tardi" svelata: HO FATTO UN LIBRO!! Il titolo? My Handmade World!

A very important step in the realization of an hot air balloon is the choice of fabrics and color scheme.
It's necessary to think about the feelings that may return once the mobile is finished...

This is an 8 segments balloon, with soft stars and clouds. Its diameter is about 7.9 inches.
